Thiruvilwamala Parakkottu Bhagavathy Temple

The Parakkottumuthy temple protecting and sheltering thousands of disciples, is situated 400 mtrs away from Thiruvilwamala, Sree Vilwadrinatha Temple which is in the heart of Thiruvilwamala. Thiruvilwamala is very famous for Kshetra Sanketham from ancient days. The sacred river Bharatapuzha and its tributary Gayathri Puzha sanctifies Thiruvilwamala from three sides. Devi Chaithanya is day to day increasing in Parakkottukavu as all the poojas, rituals and rites are done here scientifically, thanthrically and sincerely. Chuttuvilakku is the main offering to Bhagavathy. The Thalapoli, which is conducted on the 2nd Sunday of May every year, is the main festival. Lakhs of people from far and near come to Thiruvilwamala during the festival season.


VILWADRINATHANTEMPLE

Thiruvilwamala Sree Ramabhadraswamy and Lakshmana Swamy Temple, Upadevan Hanuman ( south of lakkidi railway station ), and bharathappuzha - five kilometers. four days festival. Ekadasi and Ramanavami are important. A noted event Punarjani ( rebirth ) in connection with this temple is passing through the tunnel in the papanasini and getting through with half an hour and exit at the other end, on the belief that they will be saved from all the sins they have committed in a life time. This in commemoration with the legend that Parasurama has repeated the ' Punarjani' hundred and one times to get saved from his sins as he had killed several 'Kshathriyas'. ( from Alathur on Palghat Trichur road, can come to this place via Pazhayannoor).
